When sending an image to the video clean feed, it must be converted to the display's color space and gamma. Then when you get to media out, it must be converted back to the original gamma to continue on its journey to the color page. It's up to the user to transform it into linear gamma for the sake of the Fusion tools that expect (and work better with) linear gamma. As Shebbe notes, in a non-RCM project, the working color space and gamma is whatever is provided by the source footage. The issue was that the clean feed gets a default (and incorrect) display LUT - probably the managed LUT as if RCM were in use. The way you did it with a viewing LUT is one of the ways to do this. Sometimes this is automatic, sometimes it's not depending on the color management settings. It needs to be converted from 1.0 -> 2.4 for the display. If I make changes in the color page, it's affecting what I see on the primary monitor and doesn't address the problem. I don't completely understand the problem or why this occurred, but I did find a way to correct the image I see in Fusion. The image always looked fine on all pages. I'd done a lot in Fusion and never had this issue. The thing that is so bizarre is that this is a recent change, perhaps in the last update of Resolve. I haven't done any editing in the color page, so it's a new clip with no edits. I'm assuming I need to add a node after the media out node to coerce to a proper color space and gamma for my external display. I've just tested this on a Resolve YRGB (non RCM) project where I use CSTs in the color page to take my Canon CLog3 footage to Rec709/gamma 2.2 for output and when I go to the Fusion page, the image is dark and oversaturated on my clean feed display, just as you describe.
